Here is a great example of silver from one of the most famous mines in the Americas. Chanarcillo was at its heyday in the 1850's. Although better known for the fine proustites, some great silvers were produced.

ML00324 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 6.5 x 3.0 x 1.0 cm
$ 7500.00
This is a prime example of Round Mountain gold showing many of the classic textures that make the mine famous. It is a heavy sharp leaf showing herringbone structures with twinned crystals growing off of the herringbones. Additionally there are larger crystals growing along the edge of the leaf. This is a fantastic gold.

ML00327 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 5.3 x 3.6 x 2.5 cm
$ 7500.00
At first glance, one sees some shiny leaves completly covered with gold crystals. Upon closer inspection, one realzies that most of these crystals are well formed cubes, the larger of which are up to 0.5 cm on edge. Looking at this specimen, it is hard to believe that cubic gold is actually a rare occurance.

ML00329 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 7.5 x 7.3 x 1.7 cm
$ 11000.00
This "stellar" piece is a very heavy leaf thickly covered with large crystals exhibiting both cubic and octahedral crystal habits.

ML00330 - Gold & Quartz
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 8.0 x 5.7 x 4.5 cm
$ 25000.00
This large matrix gold shows textbook epimorphic leaf growth along the previous rhombohedral calcite crystal planes. Second generation crystal growth sprouting off of the leaves adds texture and relief in the form of cube and octahedral gold faces.

ML00334 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 5.9 x 3.6 x 1.6 cm
$ 15000.00
The undulatory nature of this golf leaf is the result of distortion within the vein due to Basin and Range faulting. The net result is that the lustrous twinned crystals along the face of the leaf reflect light sequentially as the specimen is rotated. This is one of my all time favorite specimens from the mine.

ML00335 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 6.1 x 3.4 x 2.5 cm
$ 9000.00
These heavy leaves stand up nicely off the matrix. Stout spinel law twin and cube-octahedron crystals grow both between the leaves.

ML00338 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
miniature - 4.5 x 4.0 x 2.9 cm
$ 10000.00
Two intersecting leaves are surrounded by an amazing number of cubic gold crystals. Individual cubes measure up to 6mm on edge, but it appears to me that these are actually hoppered growth of a cubic crystal that is closer to 2cm on edge.
