Here is a great example of silver from one of the most famous mines in the Americas. Chanarcillo was at its heyday in the 1850's. Although better known for the fine proustites, some great silvers were produced.

Native silver on matrix from the famous Chañarcillo region in the Atacama desert in Chile. This specimen was very likely mined in the late 1800's. Acquired as part of a trade from the mineral museum at the University of the Atacama in Copiapó circa 1994.
