DZ5507 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 7.4 x 5.6 x 2.7 cm
$ 5500.00

In recent years, Round Mountain has been the most prolific producer of fine gold specimens in the world. The variety of habits, crystal forms, and aesthetics is mind boggling. Of the thousands of specimens that came out, only a very small percentage came with matrix. This specmen is a classic quartz/adularia vein with leaf gold at the center. The main leaf is nearly 8 cm tall, has great gold color and good luster. There are small crystal growths along the edges. Specimens like this are rapidly becoming classics due to the fact that the mine stopped producing specimens 3 years ago. It is unlikely any new specimens will see the market.

DZ5508 - Tourmaline
Cruzeiro Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
small cabinet - 9.3 x 1.9 x 1.6 cm
$ 1400.00

The most remarkable thing about this specimen is that is 9.5 cm tall and has not been repaired. It is 100% natural with gemmy green color and nice lilac lepidolite at the base.

DZ5601 - Topaz
Mogok, Burma
cabinet - 11.2 x 3.8 x 2.8 cm
$ 2500.00

A long prismatic topaz, well terminated at the upper end, and mostly terminated at the opposite end. It is much more elongate than normal topaz crystals. Inside the crystal there is what appears to be a negative crystal, or fluid inclusion, nearly 6mm long.

DZ5602 - Reibeckite on Quartz
St. Peters Dome, El Paso County, Colorado, USA
small cabinet - 8.4 x 5.2 x 5.1 cm
$ 1500.00

I normally think of Reibeckite as a rock forming mineral, but this one is a bonafied specimen. The crystal is 8.3 x 1.6 cm and is actually terminated at one end. It has great provenance, having been in the Barbara Muntyan Collections, and before that in the Clarence Coil Collection.

DZ5604 - Digenite & Pyrite
Leonard Mine, Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana, USA
small cabinet - 8.6 x 8.1 x 4.7 cm
$ 4000.00

Having started my career with the Anaconda Mining Company (who began mining at Butte in 1869), I consider this to be one of the finest specimens from Don Zowader's collection. It is an exceptionally large diginite crystal in a matrix of pyrite and quartz. The pyrites have an interesting red tarnish on them. This piece has great provenance, having been in the Dick Walker collection, and later purchased by Mike Groben in 1981. Don aquired this specimen as a memento of his dear late friend Mike.

DZ5606 - Schorl and Elbaite with Albite & Muscovite
Tormiq, Gilgit, Northern Areas, Pakistan
cabinet - 11.6 x 8.2 x 5.7 cm
$ 4000.00

While the label identifies this as schorl with Elbaite, I think it would be more appropriate to call all of these tourmalines elbaite. If you shine a bright light at the large darker tourmalines, you see a green color. In any case, it is a fine example of sharp lustrous tourmalines in a matrix of muscovite books and albite crystals.

DZ5605 - Topaz on Quartz
Klein Spitzkoppe, Namibia
cabinet - 13.8 x 6.9 x 6.4 cm
$ 2500.00

While the market has seen topaz from the Erongo Mountains recently, there have been very few from Spitzkoppe since the 1980's. This is an exceptionally good example of a single topaz growing on the side of a smoky quartz.
