DZ2409 - Wolframite
Panasqueira, Portugal

Panasquiera is one of my favorite localities in the entire world. Greisen deposits are known to prodce some of the finest mineral specimens. Wolframites such as this were considered to be the world's best until the Yaogangxian Mine began producing about 20 years ago.

DZ2408 - Beryl var Aquamarine with Muscovite

Two intersecting tabular beryl crystals perched on a muscovite matrix. The beryls are often labeled as goshenite, however, these are pale blue and could be considered aquamarine.

A great example of elongate scalenohedral calcite crystals. The only bad part about the specimen is that the fluorite is almost completely covered.

Clinochlore is a relatively rare mineral from the chlorite group. This specimen has two books of clinochlore, perched on a matrix of chondrodite, magnetite and calcite.

Coarse arrowhead tipped copper crystals growing in a herringbone pattern. Unusual for Michigan, this specimen has tiny quartz druse covering parts of the copper.

DZXX09 - Copper
Ray Mine, Pinal County, Arizona, USA

Crystallized copper has long been known from the Ray Mine. However, only a few select pieces of exceptionally large spinel twins have been found. The very best of these have been tied up in Arizona collections since discovery.

DZXX04 - Siderite and Dolomite
Morro Velho Mine, Nova Lime, Minas Gerais, Brazil

This is a very interesting piece with both iron carbonate and magnesium carbonate species intergrown on the same specimen. To confuse matters more, additional iron species as pyrrhotite is selectively included in and on the surface of the dolomite crystals.
