ML00612 - Fluorite & Calcite
Victory/Crystal Mine Complex, Cave-in-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
cabinet - 10.5 x 5.0 x 4.7 cm
$ 350.00 SOLD

The fluorspar mines of southern Illinois have produced some of the world's best fluorite specimens. The last mine in the region closed in 1995, however the demand for good specimens has remained. This piece was self-collected by Scott Werschky in the late 1980's. The specimen features zoned purple cubes accented by yellow calcite crystals. It is in remarkably good condition; the display side is completely damage free, and the rear has only one small cleave near the bottom.
