ML00324 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 6.5 x 3.0 x 1.0 cm
$ 7500.00 (=~ £ 6011.83)

This is a prime example of Round Mountain gold showing many of the classic textures that make the mine famous. It is a heavy sharp leaf showing herringbone structures with twinned crystals growing off of the herringbones. Additionally there are larger crystals growing along the edge of the leaf. This is a fantastic gold.

ML00325 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
miniature - 4.2 x 3.5 x 2.9 cm
$ 5000.00 (=~ £ 4007.88)

This 3 dimensional gold specimen exhibits the buttery yellow color typical of golds from the oxidized zone. Important textures include rhombohedral patterns to the leaves that is explained by gold growing along calcite cleavage planes. On top of the leaves are numerous gold crystals with cubic and octahedral crystal faces.

small cabinet - 6.7 x 3.5 x 2.3 cm
$ 14500.00 (=~ £ 11622.87)

This large gold is a compact mass of intergrown gold crystals, many of which exhibit spinel law twinning.

ML00327 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 5.3 x 3.6 x 2.5 cm
$ 7500.00 (=~ £ 6011.83)

At first glance, one sees some shiny leaves completly covered with gold crystals. Upon closer inspection, one realzies that most of these crystals are well formed cubes, the larger of which are up to 0.5 cm on edge. Looking at this specimen, it is hard to believe that cubic gold is actually a rare occurance.

ML00328 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
miniature - 3.9 x 2.1 x 1.7 cm
$ 3000.00 (=~ £ 2404.73)

This gold is typical of the intermediate zone located between the oxidized and sulfide ore. As with many Round Mountain golds, there are stacked cubes which have twinned off the primary leaf.

Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 7.5 x 7.3 x 1.7 cm
$ 11000.00 (=~ £ 8817.35)

This "stellar" piece is a very heavy leaf thickly covered with large crystals exhibiting both cubic and octahedral crystal habits.

ML00330 - Gold & Quartz
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 8.0 x 5.7 x 4.5 cm
$ 25000.00 (=~ £ 20039.42)

This large matrix gold shows textbook epimorphic leaf growth along the previous rhombohedral calcite crystal planes. Second generation crystal growth sprouting off of the leaves adds texture and relief in the form of cube and octahedral gold faces.

ML00333 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
miniature - 4.7 x 2.7 x 2.0 cm
$ 10000.00 (=~ £ 8015.77) SOLD

This is one of the best examples of spinel law twinned gold crystals on matrix ever found at Round Mountain. The crystals show slight hoppering indicative of rapid crystal growth.

ML00334 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 5.9 x 3.6 x 1.6 cm
$ 15000.00 (=~ £ 12023.66)

The undulatory nature of this golf leaf is the result of distortion within the vein due to Basin and Range faulting. The net result is that the lustrous twinned crystals along the face of the leaf reflect light sequentially as the specimen is rotated. This is one of my all time favorite specimens from the mine.

ML00335 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
small cabinet - 6.1 x 3.4 x 2.5 cm
$ 9000.00 (=~ £ 7214.19)

These heavy leaves stand up nicely off the matrix. Stout spinel law twin and cube-octahedron crystals grow both between the leaves.

ML00336 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
miniature - 3.9 x 2.0 x 0.8 cm
$ 1400.00 (=~ £ 1122.21)

Some golds from Round Mountain require very little cleaning. This specimen had only a small amount of sericite clay that was washed off in order to expose these large hoppered octahedral crystals on the edge of the leaves.

ML00337 - Gold
Round Mountain Mine, Nye County, Nevada, USA
miniature - 4.0 x 2.5 x 1.3 cm
$ 2100.00 (=~ £ 1683.31) SOLD

At first glance, this specimen appears to be a mass of inter-grown gold crystals. Closer examination shows that many of the crystal faces are in optical continuity. Therefore, an argument can be made that these are all part of the same larger crystal.

Burgin Mine, East Tintic District, Utah County, Utah, USA
small cabinet - 5.3 x 4.0 x 1.5 cm
$ 450.00 (=~ £ 360.71) SOLD

 While not the most beautiful specimen on the world, it is a good example of specimen from one of the more important metal mines in Utah.
