A very sharp calcite group with sand inclusions from the French locality south of Paris. While not as old as the historic castle of Fontainbleu, this specimen dates back to 1892.

This piece was part of the Albert C. Burrage Collection, and was donated to Harvard 17 years after his death in 1931.

DZ0903 - Descloizite

Descloizites are typically thought of as a black mineral. These crystals, however, are light brown on the edges and semi-transluscent. They are accented by tiny dolomites on both the crystals and matrix.

Normally I don't get to excited about an apophyllite from India, however this piece must have been one of the earlier specimens to reach the US market. It was at one time sold by Schortmann's, has been in the Karabachic Collection, and also the Art Montgomergy Collection.
